Everyone at one time or another has Googled their name in order to see what pops up and also who else out there shares the same name. We all wonder what information the world can see about ourselves and what information we can see about others. What would you do if you could meet the other people that pop up in the results of your google search? Jim Killeen, an entrepreneur and actor from LA has made a movie about doing just this.
This is the future of books. Or at least according to web magazine Yanko Design. While the “laptop” doesn’t actually work, the “screen” does actually light up. The piece was designed as commentary on how we as a society are moving away from older technologies and into newer ones. The designer says that the book illustrates the issues that arise from “technology and the Internet, and the effect it is having on the way we source information”. Verizon has announced a new plan for it’s subscribers that will allow for all data plans that do not require a voice plan to accompany it. In a move that will benefit the hearing impaired and people who just plain text more than talking, the Big Red V is offering two different plans, one for cellphones and one for Blackberry/PDA’s.
It is nice to see such a large company actually making strides to accommodate it’s consumers. Who will be the next to follow? After all, AT&T has a history of denying messaging/data only plans. More details after the jump.
A company out of Taiwan has announced that Dell will be releasing a 8.9″ wide-screen subcompact laptop sometime around June. For those of you keeping track, this is also right around the same time that Intel will be releasing it’s new Atom processor for ultra-portables. The laptop will apparently cost around $499 and has been basically confirmed by Dell’s CEO who said “We will introduce a similar laptop” when asked about HP’s new ultra-portable.
