Everyone at one time or another has Googled their name in order to see what pops up and also who else out there shares the same name. We all wonder what information the world can see about ourselves and what information we can see about others. What would you do if you could meet the other people that pop up in the results of your google search? Jim Killeen, an entrepreneur and actor from LA has made a movie about doing just this.

Introducing Gmail Custom Time

Google has released a new feature for it’s email client, Gmail. The new feature is called Custom Time and allows the sender of an email to edit the time stamp on the email so it will show up in the recipients inbox with the custom time stamp. Forget to email your Grandma on her birthday? Just send the email with a custom time of whenever her birthday was! When she receives the email it will tell her that she’s had it in her inbox since her birthday! Didn’t finish your term paper on time? Send it to your professor with the custom time sent to before the deadline. Brilliant!

Google Pushes for White Space Wi-Fi

Google filed a report on Monday with the FCC detailing the feasibility of using “white space” from the 700mhz spectrum for wide ranged Wi-Fi. Despite Verizon winning a large chunk of the 700mhz spectrum, there were a few channels of the spectrum known as “white space” that were not auctioned off. Google has teamed up with computer giants like Microsoft and Dell to lobby for what they are referring to as “Wi-Fi 2.0.” If the FCC takes this idea and runs with it, Google has no intention of providing service, however they said they will provide support to any company looking to use the new spectrum for Wi-Fi.
