The U.S. Department of Justice has announced today that it will allow the merger of XM and Sirius Satellite Radio. Sirius bought XM Radio last year for $4.59 billion. The delay in the merger has come from a uprising by the National Association of Broadcasters who claim that the deal will create a monopoly in the satellite radio industry. While it is true that this will create a monopoly, the Department of Justice claims that they will allow it as a whole because consumers have plenty of other choices when it comes to receiving music and talk shows.
